A conference with the theme “Mahdism: A Trans-Religious Doctrine” is scheduled to be held at the Antalya Cultural Science Center in Turkey on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
Religious sources for all believers have mentioned Mahdism. Although Shia Islam has addressed Mahdism more thoroughly and in greater detail, even specifying the birth of the Savior and providing his name and characteristics. This does not mean that other authentic faith traditions and beliefs have not spoken about Mahdism. In fact, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and Christianity have also discussed this concept.
“Mahdism is a trans-denominational doctrine” is the topic to be addressed by a seminary scholar from Iran, Hojjat-ol-Islam Dr. Yahya Jahangiri. He added that in the second part of his speech, he will emphasize that Islamic sects and various religions should come together and utilize each other’s capabilities, sharing their knowledge, findings, and methods for achieving a just governance.
“In the third part, it will also be stressed that the concept of Mahdism is not merely about one individual, where, for example, Sunnis might say he hasn’t been born and Shias might say he has. Rather, it is more about the principles involved. We observe that the government formed according to the belief in Mahdism and the era we will witness will be filled with justice and peace, where even animals will have their rights.”
