Arbaeen of Husain is the fortieth day after the event of Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shiite Imam, Imam Husain (PBUH). During this year’s Arbaeen which is going to be on Wednesday; 6th September, 2023, the number of Iranian pilgrims crossing the shared border crossings into Iraq rose by 12% as compared to the same period last year.
The chairman of the Iranian Headquarters for Arbaeen Pilgrimage, Mr. Mir Ahmadi estimated the number of the pilgrims who have so far returned to the country after doing the pilgrimage in Karbala at 1.4 million.
