The fifteenth of Sha’ban in the Islamic calendar is significant because it marks the birthday of the twelfth Imam, Muhammad Al-Mahdi (afs), who is presently in occultation. He is expected to reappear, fight oppression and evil, and establish peace and justice. The followers of Ahlul-Bayt in Nigeria, led by Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement, have marked the birth anniversary of Imam Muhammad Al-Mahdi (afs) in Abuja, Nigeria.
During the celebrations of this auspicious day, hundreds of followers of Ahlul-Bayt convened in Abuja on Friday night, February 14, 2025. Many religious activities were carried out, including recitation of the holy Qur’an, prayers, supplications, and public lectures about the life of Imam al-Mahdi (afs).
The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, described the birth of the last Imam as a blessing and a hope not only to the Muslims but to the entire oppressed people on earth. He called on believers to prepare for the holy Imam’s reappearance by following his path.
