On Saturday, January 11, 2025, a conference was held at the Islamic Republic of Iran Cultural Council embassy in Nairobi-Kenya titled, Islam and Peace.
The event was attended by notable figures, including H.E. Dr. Ali Gholampour, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nairobi; Dr. Ali Pourmarjan, the Iranian cultural counselor; Rev. Dr. Musindai Frederick from the Vatican; Sh. Salim Charo from the National Leaders Forum; Dr. Mohammed Bahaidar, CEO of Iqra FM; Amb. Esther Waringa, President of Public Service Governance; Sh. Yusuf Ismail from Sayyid Shuhadaa-Kisumu; and Dr. Hassan Kinyua, a professor at the University of Nairobi.
The audience comprised approximately 100 individuals from diverse religious, racial, and cultural backgrounds. In his speech, Dr. Ali Gholampour referenced the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his advocacy for peaceful coexistence, even with adversaries.
Rev. Dr. Musindai Frederick captivated the audience by discussing Imam Ali and his role in the Treaty of Hudaibiyya between Muslims and the Quraish. Regarding Imam Ali, he remarked, “His mantle was to prioritize peace over violence; these elements can be found in his many writings.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, today is a day when we focus on Islam and peace,” Amb. Esther Waringa noted, emphasizing that interreligious harmony is a crucial aspect of societal intervention.
