On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Abuja organized a vibrant Ghadir Khumm celebration. The ceremony was attended by ambassadors from Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq, as well as intellectuals and scholars from Nigeria.
The celebration at the embassy began with a recitation of selected verses of the glorious Qur’an by Iranian reciter; Amin Hassani. Thereafter, a speech highlighting the significance of Eid al-Ghadir was delivered by the Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Muhammad Alibak. He concluded his speech by condemning the desecration of Islamic sanctities in Sweden, which has sparked outrage among Muslims worldwide.
Another speaker on this colourful occasion was Sheikh Umar Abubakar Kumo from Gombe State, who is the chief of the Ahlul-Bayt Muslim Community in Nigeria, who emphasized the unique personality of Imam Ali (PBUH). Similarly, Dr. Yusha’u, representing Sheikh Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement, delivered a speech about the appointment of Imam Ali (PBUH) as the first Imam at Eid Ghadir.
