A total of 3,500 Iranian Mawkibs will serve and expected five million pilgrims in this year’s Arbaeen procession, an official says. This is according to Majid Namjoo, an official with organizing Mawkibs at Iran’s Arbaeen Headquarters. He made the statements while briefing reporters on Monday about the upcoming pilgrimage. A total of 5,281 Mawkibs have completed registration, however, this registration does not guarantee their participation in Arbaeen procession, he said.
“After the review process, around 3,500 Mawkibs will be selected to serve the pilgrims… Of these, 1,200 will enter Iraq, and 2,300 will provide services at the borders and on the routes leading to the borders,” added the official.
“The main hosts of Arbaeen are the Iraqi people, and our role is to support them and their Mawkibs. About 40,000 Iraqi Mawkibs serve pilgrims during Arbaeen,” he said, adding “We aim to have joint Mawkibs with the Iraqis.”
